How to assemble your inserts

Folded Space inserts are very quick and easy to assemble, it's a fun activity to enjoy! The only thing you need is some PVA glue and you are good to go :)

The vast majority of the trays in our insert designs can be assembled using our recommended approach of applying glue in lines from tab-to-tab to the flattened pieces of the trays. For many of our products the entire assembly process can be done in 20 minutes or less. For the glue we suggest using an express wood glue for best results.

The basic assembly method is as follows:

  • Dry Build the insert tray.
  • Flatten the tray walls while keeping them inserted into the base.
  • Apply Glue in thin lines from corner tab to corner tab.
  • Assemble the tray by standing the walls up and pressing the pieces together.
  • Then wipe off any excess glue and leave to dry.

Often trays in our inserts have dividers to split the tray into compartments for different game components. In this case place the divider pieces at each end, and when applying the glue also apply lines for the divider pieces prior to the assemble stage.

Sometimes you will find an insert includes trays of a slightly more advanced design. With some additional thought on the steps involved the same basic approach can be used.

Using these assembly methods you will be able to assemble one of our four sheet inserts in 20 minutes, and a six sheet insert in less than 30 minutes. The videos below demonstrate this for FS-UWC for Underwater Cities and FS-TERv2 for Terraforming Mars
